In this 60-minute IAHQ webinar, Dr. Michael Rakotz from the American Medical Association (AMA), will present on how to help your organization improve blood pressure (BP) rates. He will discuss the national BP quality measures (NQF vs. HEDIS), the AMA’s Measure Accurately, ACT Rapidly and Partner with Patients (MAP) program and new AMA initiatives focused on home blood pressure monitoring. Learn about best practices to improve BPs along with simple, actionable steps you can take to bring BP Control rates into compliance for your patients with hypertension and learn about what the future holds for improving blood pressure.
Dr. Rakotz serves as Vice President of Health Outcomes at the American Medical Association (AMA) where he oversees efforts to develop and implement national quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing the impact of cardiovascular disease, with a focus on improving blood pressure control and preventing type 2 Diabetes.
A practicing family physician for more than 20 years, Dr. Rakotz recently served as the Director of Population Health and Virtual Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group in Chicago. In 2014, his office was one of 30 sites to earn the designation as a Million Hearts® Hypertension Control Champion.
Dr. Rakotz continues to fulfill his passion for educating medical students and residents and the use of innovative health care technology- serving as Assistant Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University and as a Fellow for the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology (HIT).
